2007 NFL Draft // April 28 and 29, 2007

2007 NFL Draft Coverage

2007 Pre-Draft Talking Points: A) Why wouldn't you take JaMarcus Russell number 1?, B) Flashback: Mario Williams or Reggie Bush? C) Is Adrian Peterson a risky pick? D) Neither the Raiders or the Lions need to draft a Wide Receiver, so what's with the Calvin Johnson hype?

· Consensus Mock Picks: 1. JaMarcus Russell (QB), 2. Brady Quinn (QB), 3. Calvin Johnson (WR), 4. Joe Thomas (OT), 5. Gaines Adams (DE), more... here and here and here

2007 Draft Recap:
The Cleveland Browns have their cake and eat it too-- passing on Brady Quinn with the 3rd pick in the draft and taking Joe Thomas. Then they watch Quinn slip all the way to 22nd and make a trade to pick him up too. Whether Quinn works out or not, it was a no-brainer that the Browns roll the dice on him at 22. While JaMarcus Russell may not be a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady it is very likely that he will be a stable NFL QB for a long time. Can Calvin Johnson break the WR jinx in Detroit?

Draft Picks:
1. Oakland Raiders: 2-14
2. Detroit Lions: 3-13
3. Cleveland Browns: 4-12
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 4-12
5. Arizona Cardinals: 5-11
6. Washington Redskins: 5-11
7. Minnesota Vikings: 6-10
8. Atlanta Falcons: (from Houston 6-10)
9. Miami Dolphins: 6-10
10. Houston Texans: (from Atlanta 7-9) -
