Top 22 NBA Guards
Position Summary GUARDS
The guard position runs really deep this year. All the way down at 21, 22-- you can get quality players like Ben Gordon and Mike Miller.
1. Kobe Bryant LAL
The best player in the NBA, but doesn't translate to best fantasy player. Still, best guard choice.
2. Gilbert Arenas WAS
Getting better every year.
3. Chris Paul NO
Paul has something to prove. Is Paul this year's Dwyane Wade?
4. Baron Davis GSW
It's pretty simple. Baron is a top tier NBA player.
5. Vince Carter NJN
Reasonable to expect more of the same, though the injury risk is always there.
6. Dwayne Wade MIA
Will miss about a month at the beginning of the season. Is this too high to pay?
7. Steve Nash PHX
There isn't much upside with Nash. But, for the stablity factor he's worth drafting this high.
8. Deron Williams UTA
There's a little bit of risk in picking Williams this high.
9. Allen Iverson DEN
It's the begining of the end for Iverson. It's not his team in Denver. He's there for a deep playoff run (title?). So, have to curb the fantasy enthusiasm.
10. Tony Parker: SAS
Has turned into the #2 guy in San Antonio. Is Tony the new Kidd.
11. Kevin Martin SAC
It's Martin's team in Sacramento. His fantasy value may not shoot too much higher, but he's a safe, safe pick.
12. Kirk Hinrich CHI
The Bulls need Hinrich. Expect a solid year.
13. Mo Williams MIL
Mo was pretty solid last year, so if he's a little better this year it won't surprise too many people. Still, he may be among the better value plays for you this year.
14. Jason Kidd NJN
Time to start thinking about other younger players before reaching too high for Kidd. But Kidd has a way of keeping up.
15. Joe Johnson ATL
Should stay solid, but with new PG options in Atlanta his upside may be capped.
16. Chauncey Billups DET
Still the glue holding the team together.
17. Ray Allen BOS
Out of the big 3 in Boston, Allen's FV is likely to drop the most. But, his shooting % will stay high, he'll get his points, and his FV will be good enough.
18. Brandon Roy: POR
Sky's the limit for Roy this season in Portland.
19. Michael Redd MIL
So far just a 1-dimensional fantasy star.
20. Manu Ginobili SAS
The upside is there, but he continues to disappoint.
21. Ben Gordon CHI
Has been better than expected every step of his NBA career so far.
22. Mike Miller MEM
His role in Memphis looks pretty secure.
High Risk / High Reward
Delonte West SEA: There might be an opening for him in Seattle. And if there is, he knows how to exploit it.
Jason Terry DAL: Space for him in Dallas looks good-- especially as D.Harris has continued to disappoint.
Kevin Durant SEA: So far, so good, in the preseason.
Leandro Barbosa PHX: Could turn out to be a safer pick then everyone expects. PHX likes to run, so Barbosa's gonna get his minutes.
T.J. Ford TOR: How much room will he have in Toronto to rack up fantasy points?
Anthony Parker TOR: Ditto T.J. Plus, there's Calderon too.
Brevin Knight / Sam Cassell LAC: If one or the other takes the balance of the minutes there's fantasy value.
Stephen Jackson GSW: Going to miss some time at the beginning of the year.
J.R. Smith DEN: So far, missed potential. And, not a lot of space in Denver.
Jameer Nelson ORL: Could be a big year if the team backs him.
Larry Hughes CLE: Instant top-tier fantasy guard if LeBron's taking a night off.
