Fanbay.net NBA player rankings are based on fantasy value expectations for the upcoming 2007-2008 season. Rankings will be updated to reflect news and related pre-season developments. Center positions are based mostly on Yahoo! fantasy position eligibility. Last update: 10/20/07.
Top 15 NBA Centers

Position Summary CENTERS
.

1. Tim Duncan SA
In most leagues, Duncan has C status. And for consistency alone, Duncan is the best player available at the position. Also, Duncan doesn't have the option of letting his regular season sag, the Spurs don't have much else available in the paint.

2. Yao Ming HOU
Still waiting for a breakout season. The injury risk doesn't make this an easy pick either-- he missed over 30 games last year.

3. Chris Bosh TOR
Center status in most leauges-- Bosh is high energy, and could improve his stats this year.

4. Dwight Howard ORL
Dwight's an easy top-tier pick at center. Howard single handedly led Orlando to the playoffs last year.

5. Marcus Camby DEN
One of the best in the game when he's healthy. And he has started to put the injury bug to rest. Racks up fantasy points when he gets minutes.

6. Paul Gasol MEM
Should have C status. Solid, multi-category fantasy player, but with slight injury risk.

7. Emeka Okafor CHA
Has the potential to improve his fantasy numbers this year. Even if not much improvement, Okafor is a solid pick here.

8. Carlos Boozer UTA
Beware, statistically speaking, Boozer historically has been up and down and last year could have been an anamoly.

9. Jermaine O'Neal IND
We are concerned that O'Neal is on the cusp of entering the twilight of his career and that Indiana may start writing him off as the season goes on. If you can overlook that risk, O'Neal could prove to be a decent value at your draft/auction.

10. Amare Stoudemire PHX
You may need to let others take the Amare risk this season. Sure, he's loaded with potential. But the reality is he's only had 1 monster fantasy season in the NBA (2004-2005) and he is injured heading into the season.

11. Tyson Chandler NO
Last year was at least solid. But otherwise Chandler is wasting his talent.

12. Ben Wallace DET
Big Ben has turned into just a role player for the Bulls which caps his fantasy value. Still a solid option, just maybe doesn't come with upside anymore.

13. Abdris Biedrins GSW
Delivered solid fantasy value last year and he's got a starting spot in Golden State. Worth a pick.

14. Chris Kaman LAC
Should rebound from last season's dismal performance since Brand is out. But watch out, Clips rookie Al Thorton is certainly trying to move in on this space.

15. Chris Wilcox SEA
Last year was pretty solid and he could improve again.

INJURED

Elton Brand LAC
One of the best fantasy players in the game. But it looks like he may be out all year.

Samuel Dalembert PHI
Expected to be ready opening night, but always a continual injury risk. So much potential and upside (and Philly needs him this year too).

UPSIDE

Andrew Bynum: Bynum has breakout potential and is worth the upside pick.
LaMarcus Aldridge: A legitimate choice as your back-up C.
Nenad Krstic: If he can return healthy this season, there's lots of upside.
Shaquille O'Neal: Shaq may want to take the regular season off as usual and show up come playoff time. But the Heat aren't going anywhere this year without Shaq contributing. Plus, he's still getting paid $20 million per year for 3 more seasons.
Mehmet Okur: All or nothing. More nothing though at the end of last season and in the playoffs. Risky, but upside there.

BEST OF THE REST

N.Hilario, T.Murphy, A.Bogut, J.Przybilla, M.Moore/S.Abdur-Rahim, E.Curry, A. Harrington, Z.Ilgauskas A.Bargnani, F.Oberto, A.Varejao, K.Perkins, Z.Pachulia, E.Dampier/D.Diop, B.Miller, S.Dalembert, M.Blount, T.Battie D.Milicic, K.Brown, J.Foster, B.Haywood, I.Diogu, H.Armstrong
