2005 Analysis The 2005 Nascar Nextel Cup Champion is Tony Stewart. It is his 2nd title-- the other being 2002 (story). Jimmie Johnson slid from 2nd before the race to 5th after because he lost his right rear tire, crashed out, thus finishing 40th in Miami. So, Greg Biffle moved up to 2nd (winning the final race) and Carl Edwards finished 3rd. Mark Martin finished 4th. Jeff Gordon finished 11th (best driver not in the Chase) and near the top in money won.
